From my understanding that shouldn't matter. The yolk coming from the end of your original transmission should be able to be transfered to the new transmission. So your should be able to attach it. I'm not sure as far as rear end to tranny length, but you can have a spline welded into the driveline to allow compression if it's a problem. But I have never done this personally, let's see if anyone else has other thoughts.

My guess is no. I'm trading out an AOD for a T-5. The AOD driveshaft is longer by about an inch in an 88 Mustang. What year/body vehicle are you trading it out of? Also, the weld comment above is true. The crossmember is different too.. As well as the hole in the tunnel. I've got that whole set-up for sale if you're interested...
