Ok, i am swapping a 302/aod into my 58 ford...i thought this would be an easy swap, but im ready to go back to my 223! My 302 is an 84 short block with 79 heads and aluminum intake. The problem i am running into at the moment is dipstick location... I had to swap to a front sump pan (early mustang style) my original dipstick is in the side of the block. Wont work! I plugged the hole on the engine. I have the entire front cover, brackets, pulleys and everything from a 73 302. Can i just swap all that and keep my 84 harmonic balancer? Is the 73 balancer ok to use with my 84 flywheel? Or should i just pull my stock 84 timing cover and drill it for the dipstick? HELP!!!!!

If you have a the earlier timing cover with the dip stick hole in it you can just swap it over and put everything else back on the way it was.
