Do they get quieter after some use? Or has anybody else noticed this?

I have a set of Pete Jackson "Noisy" gears in my 331 and lately they seem to be getting softer.

Despite some of the pros and cons posted here, I did drill a .040" hole in the passenger side's lifter galley plug to spray out oil onto the back of the gear. I just couldn't see how that gear would get enough oil and now it will always be lubed! Oil pressure wasn't affected and the lifters and rockers get PLENTY of oil.

But that hole was there since day 1, so that wouldn't explain why the gears are quieter now after about 300 miles or so.

Maybe it's just the nature of the beast...

I don't think so... I used to drive through my neighborhood in 2nd (25 mph speed limit) thinking everybody was going to kill me. Now it doesn't sound nearly as overbearing. I'm just wondering if they take a "set" after awhile.

I love the new combo... still have a little tuning and playing around to do. Hard to keep the tires on the ground with these notchbacks, though!
