Anybody using fel-pro 1011-1 or 1011-2. Does the head or the block need to get machined to use any of this two?

I just read the instruction on my windsor jr heads and they don't recommend the 1011-1 because this gasket has resulted
in cylinder head cracking.

It's good to read the instructons. I often find good things in there.

Do you really think the 1011-1 can crack the heads? My windsor jr are cast iron not aluminum. World recommends the 1011-2. The difference beside the thickness is that the 1011-1 have a Pre-flattened steel wire ring and the 1011-2 have a Pre-flattened copper wire ring.

i personaly dont like the copper wire,in moderat power levels(low combustion press) there great,u get the cyl press up(high c/r or boost no2)the copper wire WILL relax and uyou will get some combustion gas in the cooling sys, from what ive read and been told, copper for aluminum and steel for cast iron, the steel ring will tend to brinel or bite into the aluminum, but isnt that what you want,to seal the head to the block, ive ran the copper in both of my big blocks with alum heads,i had to go back and redoo the head gaskets,it was the slight detonation that did em in,veh was just starting to run hotter than normal, and never did befor,it would pressurize the cooling sys real quick, one engine was a edelbrock head 10.5-1 460 in my daily driver bronco, thought i could run the cheap 87 oct in 95 deg temp, even if i was easy on it,well that did em in, my other engine was a 13.5-1 501/460 well.......i dont need to explain that one, just my opinions
