For those of you running TW heads, where are you getting the best top end power with your timing? Combo details are in my signature. I'm currently running 15* initial w/ another 20* of mechanical advance, all in by 2500rpm's. Sound about right, or should I advance/back it off?
Getting ready to step up to steeper gears (4.11's or 4.33's) and more torque converter (2800-3000) so I can really twist its' wick. Right now, it'll spin to 6300+ without breaking a sweat. Just curious what everyone else is running.

Kevin

PS... I'm running a 28" tire in back (275/60-15)

The combustion chamber is very efficient so it does not need a lot of spark lead. I have seen them run well w/ as little as 32* total. But you will have to tune in what works for your total combo.

Depends on combo, compression, cam, octane, Etc. but 30-34 degrees is a good starting point and 14 initial is also.

Your fine right there. If it doesn't knock yet try a little more till it does then back it down some. I think right now I at 20 initial and 32 total.

We're running at 34* total (locked out) on an '86 5.0 stock lower end with TFS TW heads,TFS stg II cam, 10.2 compression flat tops. It's a bracket car weighing 2700# and running a best of 11.73 at 115 mph. It likes the timing best at 34* with our setup.

If I remember correctly I ran around 42 deg total in a light four speed car w/ a custom solid cam and about 9.5 comp. with the TF's. Sounds like alot but that was what it liked. It pulled hard all the way to 8K.
