Hi
My friend asked me to look at his car ,he said fuel pump is shot .I went to his house turned on the key heard the pump click on just cranked would not start, I got out looked under hood with air cleaner off, wires were frayed at TPS plug,I unplugged it cleaned it off and the car started ,yet when I touched the wires it would cut out and sputter and the passenger side injector was just pouring fuel down the throttle body ,now I am old school and know almost nothing about cars newer than 79 (lol) and when I looked at the injector it is loose in the holder and can move up and down about 3/8 of an in. and when I went back the next day car would not start and I want to know if changing this Tps would be right and the leaking injector ?

TPS plays a huge role in EEC fuel maps...ask me how I know. Probably the most important sensor in the whole EEC system, and even more important on CFI (central fuel injection...like the one you're describing). Fix the wire first. Then test the TPS. There is another post on how to test the TPS voltage....it's a post reguarding a 2.3, but it's still the same, just in a different place.

Good luck replacing the TPS. CFI TPS's aren't real easy to replace...

I have an '85 Mustang LX 5.0 that did that. The Sig Rtn wire was frayed somewhere between the EEC and engine harness, so I just had to make a new wire. Started right up, idled like a new car, and if you want it, you can have it...for $1000.
