I am considering replacing the FMX Cruise-O in my 67 Galaxie which has a 289 Engine. The trans has to be rebuilt anyway and was wondering if there any transmissions out there that are a direct swap for the FMX? I have looked around but am a little confused!!
Maybe a C4?
Thanks for any input!
Scott

AOD? Nice to have an overdrive and you will probably need to modify the driveshaft anyway.... just a thought.

If you have the mechanical link rod Scott its a PITA!

We swapped out the original MX for a C4. Our headers created a problem though.

Your headers should not pose a problem though.

Ill get more indepth in a email.

Actually the AOD is about the easiest swap. Let's look at the changes needed when swapping from FMX to some other:
C4 - new flexplate, driveshaft yoke, shifter linkage, shift down linkage, converter
AOD - AOD yoke, shifter linkage, converter, custom rear tranny mount, shiftdown linkage
C6 - shorten driveshaft ~3", shift down linkage (maybe), converter, shift linkage
