I owned a 68' mustang with a 302 2V combo and it had the autolite 2100 carb. It always had trouble starting after it had been sitting for about 10 minutes after running. If I tried to start it after about a minute or two, say after getting gas it would be fine. What would cause this? Is it just fuel boiling over into the intake? would running a phenolic spacer help?

Ignition components breaking down under heat, fuel boiling in the carb (run a spacer). Weak starter, or starter heatsoaking, marginal connections/grounds somewhere....all possibilities. I'd vote for heatsoak or carb heatsoaking as my first guesses. How does it behave when you try to start it?
