I discovered that to hit 6400 RPM, I had to set my rev-limiter to 7000 RPM. A few weeks ago I set it to 2500 and verified that it limited exactly where it should, but it seems that it's somehow kicking in early at the upper RPMs.

I've got an Accel Billetproof distributor supplying a magnetic trigger to a Crane HI-6. Prior to the limiter kicking in the engine is running strong with no misfires, so I don't think it is due to the distibutor itself. It bothers me that I might not be able to count on where it really limits.

Has anyone else seen something like this?

I've got an entire msd system, billet dizzy, two step, etc. Does the same thing. When I set the low limit at 4000, the tach reads about 3700 or so on the limiter. I guess it's just tachometer error.
