Does anyone know how much camshaft lift you can go with on the stock bolt down rocker arms before you have to go with adjustable valvetrain. This is a 1985 351 W.

Not much more than stock. Something like an Edelbrock Performer is as big as I'd want to go with. I used an Torker II on time with the stock bolt downs, and it ended up flattening the cam. That cam was in a 302 and it had .472/.492 lift.

Well....it depends. With the stock stamped steel fulcrum style arms, I agree with the above post that I would not go much more than stock.

But that does not mean you need to convert to stud mount. With pedestal mount full roller rockers, you can run over .500 (say up to .540) lift with no problems.
