I was wondering..why did Ford put the valley pan on 351W applications in their trucks and vans.
I just picked up one and was thinkin it's gonna be my "poor mans" air gap manifold mod. Any other reason Ford would do this? Think it'll help with intake temp?

It must have to do with heat getting to the carb/intake. Seems like they are used on heavy duty applications.

Yea it keeps the hot oil off the intake.

Used one on my 429 with aluminum intake and it did a great job keeping the oil from baking unto the exhaust crossover and dropping the crud into the lifter valley. Intake looked like new on the bottom next time I had it off. Thought it was a better idea, bought one for the 351W.
