Is the vehicle speed sensor in a mustang trans/motor really necessary for the engine to run properly?
I have installed an '87 5.0 mustang motor in my '72 Bronco. I want to convert it to mass air and I have the conversion parts necessary. The instructions for the conversion harness say that I need to add wires from pins 3 and 6 on the computer to the speed sensor on the transmission. I'd like to know if these wires are really necessary for the motor to run well. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I converted a stock '86 Mustang to mass air and did not use a speed sensor. I didn't notice any side effects, but heard it can cause an occasinal stall problem. Found the car lost .25 sec at the strip, so I went back to the speed densety system.
