Re: My1965 galaxie: So I've got a vibration thats not coming from the front end. The steering wheel doesn't shake at all when its occurring. On accelleration and cruising there's no vibration, but on desceleration and at speeds above 70 its got a shimmy....a real rapid vibration. would this be bad universal joints? There's no slop in them when I grab them and shake them. any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

Could be. Or if the vibration starts at higher speeds, it could be a bad trans output shaft bushing. Push up on the yoke U-joint with 20-30 pounds of force. You should have zero perceptible play between the yoke and trans.

Or a bad rear axle pinion bearing. Do the same test back there. If either one is bad, don't wait to fix it. The damage progresses fast with those.
