I have a volt meter in my car that when I hook it up to the power wire with the ignition off it reads between 10-12 volts. When I turn the key on it drops off the guage. I have not started it yet to see what it does with the engine running it seems wrong. I dont remember the one in my last car doing that. Anyone have an idea what is going on?
There is no voltage at the hookup with the key off. I checked with multi meter.

With the key off the gauge shows no voltage, or 10-12 volts? When you turn the key on, what drops off the gauge, the volts?
