in my 65, 2 barrel, my intake manifold has ridges on the inside. like its wierd because all manifolds ive seen are smooth but this one has lots of ridges that looks like it comes from the factory to look like it. its directly under where the carb would be, and its strait lines of ridges. wonder if anyone can explain?

It is in MANY intakes bro, it breaks up the Squirt of fuel by initiating a turbulance in the airflow therefore Atomising the fuel much more effieiently than the suction alone, and it does not necessarily hinder the flow either.
A smoothe polished intake ports and manifold will not deliver fuel as well as one that is rough, or ribbed for your pleasure...
Polished intakes will be found on Injected cars... where the injector atomises the fuel it's self right before the intake valve in most instances...

LMAO. FE is exactly right. In fact, when you do porting or gasket matching they tell you NOT to polish the intake runners because the fuel will actually fall out of suspension, and end up "puddling" on the back of your intake valve.
