I bought a 65 mustang a few years ago. It came with a 9" and large drum brakes (bigger than 8" brakes, that's for sure). I replaced the wheel cylinders when I first bought the car, and they came from some kind of mid 60's truck, I think a 65 f100 with a 352? Anyhow, after troubleshooting a sinking brake pedal, I realized that the moron before me removed the self adjusting mechanism plate and cable and just ran the spring from one brake pad to the other. I need to order a new spring kit and self adjuster kit but want to make sure I order the right items.

Can anyone tell me the true source of my drum brakes? They are indeed 5x4.5 and not 5x5.5. I took some measurements, here they are:

Drum diameter inner width: 11"
Larger pad length - roughly 11.5" to 11 5/8"
Smaller pad length - 10.5"
Both pads are 1 3/4" wide.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

I think Fairlane runs that size. The parts guy can go by the size to order a spring kit.

full size car . axle retainer/backing plate bolts should be 1/2" , very early 7/16".

been said , parts can be got by drum size .
