I had about the same truck years ago....and man, do I miss it. That thing would rock...and the old 460 was quite mild by today's standards. It was modeled after a magazine article that made 500 HP/ 500 lb-ft, which I don't doubt it did. At first it was a C6, then I cooked it, and put a truck 4 speed in it. First was useless unless a trailer was behind it, and best of all I could run 2.47 gears pulling a trailer...yet cruise down the freeway at 2200. I traded it straight up for a '84 Mustang GT bone stock with 229,000 original miles on it. The owner of the Mustang tried and tried to get it into the 9's in the 1/8 mi...we actually performed the trade at the local drag strip. I drove the 'stang around, came back, jacked up the timing and leaned out the Edelbrock 1405 about 5 sizes, just guessing....and went out and clicked off an 8.45 about 45 minutes after the trade was complete. The next round, I had to run my old truck, and I treed him with a .506 to his .614, and he still beat me by 3-4 lengths. The truck got 14-16 mpg unloaded, 10-12 loaded with my Maverick on back, and ran consistent 7.90s in the 1/8.

On the bright side, I had to put a motor in the Mustang last year and with lots of tuning, have gotten a best of 34 MPG. It still won't run as fast as the truck did, though. I still miss the ol' blue truck.

The early '80s F100's and 150s are probably one of my favorite body styles of any pickup, VERY easy to work on, and parts are plentiful.
