i am building my first v8 and am on a budjet. My uncle gave me a carter 4brl 650, carb. Ii wll put in on a stock cast iron 4brrl 289 manifold. cran energizer cam 272/480 lift. Ported heads with chev 305 h.o valves. it will be all knew inside except new crank and rods but it will be honed and maybe bored. It is a great running motor and it is a tight one so i am just trying to make it have as much performance with the budjet. and i will try to put flat top pistons in it also. anything helps thank.

With the ported heads you should be doing a little better than the Hipo 289, but the hydraulic cam is going to hinder your rpm limit (Hipo had solid lifter), so I'd guess in the neighborhood of 260-280hp with plenty of torque and great street manners. However if you choke it down with manifolds and small (dual 2&quot
exhaust, it'll probably pull you down into the 240-260 range.
