What kind and size of bolts do I need to bolt my 289 onto the stand I bought? I don't have a large collection of bolts or a tap and die set so I'm not sure how to find out what I need. Any other tips or tricks that I need to know when I'm putting this thing on the stand? Thanks.

same as your bell bolts,just longer

Use a tape measure and measure the length of the stands holes. Then take a bellhousing bolt with you for the size and thread and get 4 bolts with a least 3 bars on the bolt head, (grade 5).

I don't have the bellhousing bolts because they didn't come with the engine and tranny that I bought. I know the bolt needs to be about 3.5" long, I just don't know how big and what thread.

They are 7/16 14 thread. Home depo or the like should have some. Just measure your engine stand for the length you need.
