Does anyone know what rpm my engine will top out at as I'm looking at buying a 2" rev counter to fit in my dash between the temp and fuel gauge and as it will be small I don't want it too cluttered with numbers. The options I have are 6k,8k,10k & 12k.
I have a 63 country sedan with a 289, cruisomatic and 3.5 9" axle with 14" rims with 235/60 tyres.

If it is a Stock 289 I would get the 6k personally. I doubt you would want to ever exceed that number, and will certainly live well below it on the gauge. That way you get the most "use" of the gauge. I would certainly never get one bigger than 8K

That is what I suspected thanks, I'm use to high revving two strokes so I normally go for 16-20k ones lol
