my 390 still has the stock 2v carb, what should the fuel pressure be at,reason being is my electric pump is preset at 7psi. but was wondering if its too high cuz i see some "stock" fuel pumps preset at 5psi. anybody know?

I seem to remember 4-5psi for those old 2 bls.I,ll see if it says anything in the workshop manual.

289cid 4.0-6.0 psi
352-427 4.5 - 6.5 psi

Minimum fuel pump volume @500 Rpm
223 1 pint in 30 seconds
289-427 1 pint in 20 seconds

so do you guys think i should run a regulator or is 7psi good enough?

As long as it's not keeping the needle valve open you should be OK, if flooding occurs put a regulator on it.
