Since I ordered my new Edge 3700 stall converter, I was wondering what size tranny cooler will suffice to cool my tranny? I DO have one now but I don't think it's very big.
I was looking at some of the ones on Summit and I was considering one that is 7.5x11
The one I have now is only like 4.5x11(guessing)

It took a B&M supercooler with a fan on it to cool mine down to a safe level in the warm weather, a little expensive but well worth the piece of mind, I am running a 2800 stall behind a 460 with a 3;89 rear in a Ranchero and after a couple of good passes the tranny would be screaming hot, over 200, a regular Supercooler without the fan wouldn't cool it enough, Went to the monster thats in it now and a comfy 180 in the hot weather here in VA, Like the man said As Big as you can get it

You might also want to consider running a deeper aluminum pan. When I re-did my c-4, I put on a an aluminum B&M pan that holds 2 extra quarts and has cooling fins in it. Hangs a little lower than stock, but more capacity is always better too. I am also running Amsoil synthtic in my trans which also cuts down on the heat.

Yeah, I saw those deep aluminum pans. They're kinda pricey right now.
I've been looking for a used one in the classifieds.

Well How about when your not running the trans cooler through the radiator to start??
In my application I dont have a trans cooler in the radiator. So I grabbed the biggest hayden trans cooler(high performance 516).
"516 3/4” 10” 15-7/8” 12-1/8” 9/16”–18 S.A.E FLARE UP TO CLASS “A” MOTORHOMES, TOWING UP TO 10,000 LBS."
Its sounds like more than enough but im assuming that they mean to use it in line with the radiator cooler.
My car specs are below except for the trans. C4 2800 stall custom mustang II convertor,3.40 gear 26" tall tire with expected highway use and semi-daily driver.
Any thoughts?

My radiator doesnt have a provision for a trans cooler. I used the biggest I could find and put it on the grill side of th radiator. Of course when I put a fan there it had to go. So....I placed two smaller coolers in series behind the front bumper and made little air deflectors to provide them with air. Seems to work good with my 3200 stall. Fluid isnt burned and trans works great. Tim.

I run the biggest cooler B&M makes with a little electric fan mounted on it and it's all mounted in the right wheel well up front behind the headlight. 6000 stall and driving around in 95* heat in heavy traffic it cools just fine
