Hey guys I'm working on a 351c build and I'm going to run the comp magnum 270 cam in my cleveland with stock cast pistons. What would be the correct timing to set at without going too extreme? (remember, cast pistons)
Your timimg is going to have to be tuned under loaded conditions and 10 degrees is a good guess for the initial timing. 38 degrees for max is a bit high for the Cleveland engine in most cases. I have seen dyno results that limit maximum advance to 34 and 36 degrees but it will depend on your mixture and the mixture control, weight of your car, the RPM it comes in at, compression, exhaust and driving habits.
