Hey fella's I just have a quick question, a friend of mine has a 94 V8 cougar and it needs a tranny. He said that the radiator busted internally and that coolant and tranny fluid got mixxed together and tore up the tranny. He is looking for another one (tranny) but he's not really a car guy too much. So I thought i would do some checking around and see what trannys came in these cars and which ones can serve as a easy replacement. Thanks for any help!

They used a 4R70W, which was used on the Birds before the Mustangs. The 94-95 version had some short coming, so you would be better off getting one from a 96-97, or a later model Mustang. If a later Mustang, some rewiring will be needed.

Thanks that was what I was needing to know. He keeps telling me "that is the only year they put a v8 in that car and stuff". He says he was told that a new transmission is going to run him $1,700 (which he doesn't have). And I wasn't sure because I have never messed with a cougar or thunderbird so I thought I would find out if we could find another tranny from a different car that had the same type of tranny and get it from the U-Auto-Pull-It for $150. They have loads of V8 town cars, crown vic's, and grand marquis there. Thanks for the info!!
Thats an awesome car you have!
