As I was taking my last cruise with my '66 Sunday evening I notice the windshield fogging up on the passenger side and a whiff of antifreeze. So as expected once I parked it, the heater core has a small leak. Luckily this is an easy one to remove. I also noticed a little dampness on the engine side of the radiator as well. Since these are all original it makes sense that this is happening. So.... do I buy new or take them to a radiator shop? This only has the small 289 in it and I don't have any plans to put anything bigger in it. It's not a show car....its a cruiser for the family. What would you do?

Replace the heater core (new) and take the radiator to a shop to see if it can be saved or re-cored.

another option as well..and price is not bad...plus if you do engine upgrades in future it will keep it cool....

Just get a new radiator. I just got 3 core aluminum one for my project for $220.00 delivered.

Very well built . You will be happy with it.

Would like to say that if it is the Original radiator then you should replace.

I installed a new heater core from Oreilly and have had no issues with it. My orig radiator was claimed "rotten" by the radiator shop and they said they'd have to cut it open and recore it and so forth and quoted around 400, so I ordered an alum one for about half and been happy since.
