Whenever you begin thinking about your cam and thinking about changing it, start with understanding your intake and exhaust, your rpm range you want your power to work in.

Once you know that simply call a cam grinder or manufacturer and tell them your ideas and what your engine specs out to. They'll make you a right nice cam.

Unless you're doing a concours resto do not use a stock cam. That technology is pretty old at this point. Gary's right about considering everything, but even with a stock engine a step up from a stock cam will work better.
