1969 C-6 (This one I know the answer to)

1969 FMX off a 351 Cleveland,

3 spd. std. (Off my '61 Falcon straight 6, I assume this is for all str. 6's ford made up to but not including the 250/300's ??)

Thanks Fella's and Ladies...

I am trying to piece some thoughts together as to what engine to put in the falcon...
I have a tranny for damn near every ford engine made except the 90* the MEL's and the 385 series.. Pretty much everything else I can handle... What does thou thinkest? And what would be the COOLEST engine to see in a '61 Falcon 4 door? NOt the most powerfull, but the COOLEST...

The 240 is a different motor than the 200 its the same as the 300. But from what I have see on the 6 site its too long to fit right in the falcon/comet with out moving the rad forward and hood clearance issues. Here's a page on the 6 cyl tranny swaps info.
http://www.inlinepages.com/drivetrain/manualswap.html
The tranny you have is a non-sincroed 1st. gear I beleve its a 2.77 .. the updated one was a 3.03 full sincroed came out in 66 I think.
I know the big V-8's you may need to cut and reinforce the shock towers (reshape). As well as run that bar between them.
Maybe a 302 clevor.

OK Tim! Enough with the Clevor crap!

It's geting a 351 Toledo or nuttin! HA ha ha!

No tranny for a 429 guy's, sorry, the Boss is out of the picture....

If it's too long I can go with an electric water pump and make me a 10,000 RPM 240, with Dual Quads on it! Wooooo Hoooooo!

A 289 would be neat... and old Y block would be cool as hell and make it look like a very old hot rod mod! I mean, who would use a friggin Y-block nowadays right? I could! If I could fit that fat Phuccer in there!

I guess I'll start looking for a 200 and a crank place to make me a stroker crank for it and make my own intake, and port my head, and "biggerize" my valves... Sound good? Or does someone have a 289 I can have for $35 bucks???

the 250 is the same block as the 200. Might want to look for one of those instead of a 200.. check out this site Ford six performance 144/250

you might find some good infor there for a stroker crank tho I haven't seen any on there mostly triple carbs, cams, aussy heads, headers and the such. Azcoupe I think is in the prosses of looking to build an aluminum head for the 6's..

How about a 53 (or was it 54) 239 cid OHV engine, with one of those holley tea-pot carbs, squeezed by a vintage paxton supercharger. Use one of the early ford 3 speeds with overdrive, maybe see if you can find an old columbia two-speed rear too, you'll be having fun searching for obsolete parts anyway, so no biggie. Get all that done, then head out to the salt falts and see what she'll do.

Pedal2themetal is right and wrong.....the 200 and the 250 have the same block but are not the same. Compare the starter locations on the two. The 200 is high on the passenger side, right under the exhaust manifold. The 250 is very different. The 250 is like the V-8 bell housing. I ran into this problem trying to mate a '75 Granada 250 C-4 Tranny to a 200 I-6. It was accomplished by swapping bell housings & torque converters.

Problem solved fella's...

My machinist just offered me a FREE 289! Complete less intake, fuel pump and exhaust man's, which is no problem really... It will bolt up to my FMX!

Who's going to give me an old 289 Aluminum 4V intake?

Who's going to give me a set of hedders for a 289 to fit my '61 Falcon?

Who's going to call me on asking for all this free crap?

If you don't ask, how can you receive?

FE

Oh I almost forgot... Who's got some suspension parts to hold this engine up in this Falcon....

If the Headers are the common '65-'66 Mustang headers, you are probably going to run into trouble using them in your Falcon engine bay. There are dedicated Falcon swap headers that will work better. Why not run an iron intake and a 2100 or 4100 Autolite carb instead of the more common aluminum intake and aftermarket carb. The Autolites are without a doubt the best carb ever made, and they are the best carb you could want to install on a driver. I'll put my 480 or 600 cfm Autolite 4100's up against any Holley,Edelbrock or Carter any day and come out smiling.

So I'm a little late on this but I still want to vote for a flathead V-8 in that Falcon. A dressed-up flattie is a neat looking engine and with the right cam and mufflers plays the best tailpipe music you've ever heard!
