I know that ford and mercury used GT and GTA emblems on their Fairlanes and Comets/Cyclones. However in '67, they stopped using the GTA insignia. Why? Anybody know? any guesses. I don't have either!
Okay, then do you know why Mercury did not? I have a '67 Merc, a GT with an automatic, and its not a GTA. Why? I'm assuming the A in GTA stood for automatic? Any thoughts? Thanks for the info about ford using the GTA emblem in '67 however!
no other cars except the 67 Mustangs and 66/7 Fairlanes are called GTA just because they are automatics. Ford was pushing the automatics big time in 66. It's all marketing
