I have 275/60R15s on 8" steel wheels inside the rear fender wells on my 64...with no issues
I have 275/40R17s on the rear of my '64, also no issues and no modifications required. It is tight, I won't lie. But zero rubbing or clearance issues. I didn't do the build, so I don't know what the offset on the wheels is.
yea i forgot i am going to run a 17 inch rim if i go 8 inch wide and 18 inch rim if i go 9.5 inch

look at the inner part of the rear wheel well and see if its flat to the frame rails or has a 2" lip and then the wheel well

larger brakes is why im using a larger rim plus with all the crap going on we are limited to rim size and with plus tires are an issue also as 15 inch is not as easy to get different profiles
so i tried a 18 inch 9.5 wide rim around an inch of clearance on outer quarter little to tight for my liking with no tire on it gonna go with 17 inch 8 wide to get comfortable fit
5" backspacing on my wheels...IIRC
yes that would be correct as i have 1'" shorter axel tube on each side so the 4.5" back space on mine should fit nicely may not have to modify inner part of wheel well
as i anticipated wheel well needs some movement inward

they would probably be fine if nobody ever sat in back or nothing was ever placed in the trunk or there was never any potholes in newyork state:unsure:
Sorry no help, but I like your wheels

I have a 64 Fairlane as well, I want to run bigger tires and wheels also, interested to hear more
ill be doing in december mocking up ac so i can get under hood and front inner fenders painted before winter sets in and its to cold to paint but ill post some pictures was hoping on some insite from others that have done but ill get it just have to think out all the mapping
Those wheels look really good on your Fairlane. I have a 64 SC as well. What wheels are they?
us mags rambler in gray they also do black but i have a dirt driveway and black is not good for that gets dirty in seconds
Gray looks way better IMO. Too much contrast with black on chrome If you ask me. I wish they made a 17x9. That’s what my rears are.

i think you could custom order them but need to have all measurements dead on i know a freind got custom made for his ride they make a 18x9.5 i tried it but it was really close to outside
