Had one of the salvage yards we do buisness with call me the other day and told me that they just got in a 00' explorer with a5.0 in it and knew I was looking for a motor for my 67' I asked how many miles were on it and he told me 48k I told him I was intrested but needed to find out if it was useable in my car, so (1) can I strip off the fuel inj. stuff off and use a carburator? (2) what about a cam change? ( mild one) (3) I'm pretty sure it has thermactor holes at the back of the heads. plug them up ? (4) should I just scrap this whole idea? Any suggestions appreaciated Thanx, Bryant

1) Yep, you can trash the fuel injection. The Explorer EFI intake is worth some $$ to the 5.0 guys BTW.

Be careful with header selection, as that motor has the GT40p heads, but if your careful and use 90º boots on the plug wires you'll be OK

dont forget the electric fuel pump as from 85 & up they dont have the boss stamped out to accept a mechanical fuel pump
