Just reading the fix for Rangerman's ignition problem and it reminded me of a problem a friend of mine had a few years ago with a Windstar van.

For months, this brand new vehical kept going back to the dealer because it was stalling.

Of-coarse, everytime she brought the vehical to the dealer, it never failed. This went on for months. 2 - 3 times a week, it would stall she would re-start it, and go like nothing happend.

Now, when most women ( except the women on this forum...wink) go to a dealership and they can't find the problem... they are always suspect for making up problems that don't really exist.

Bring it to the dealer, they decided to help with her anyways.... they changed the computer, the coil, the electronic thingies, the fuel pump... they must have spent thousands in parts and labor.

So, she finally trusted me to take a look at it for her. Fixed in in two minutes.

She gave me the keys to the van. I put them in, then noticed all the attachments on the key chain, 5 - 6 discount cards, dozzens of keys, quick de-tachers...other things... who knows what they were for, mace, nail files... everything you can think of.

I asked her one question. "Do you drop the car off and give them the key?" She said "yes". I said, "do you give them all the keys of just the one for the van...?" "No, just the key for the van."

Well, the keys were sooooo heavy, that go over a bump or two there was enough momentum and weight in the keys to turn the ignition switch to the off position.....

HA......

Mikes66, that was excellent observation to catch that. One in a million would have ever caught that. Good eye and common sense.
