Good evening everyone
I have a c4 trans and i am new to transmissons. i am rebuilding it in a college trans class and i have some questions for you. what is the best way to tell the year of the trans. it is out of my 72 mustang. i believe it is a 1980 the second question is the valve body has a red tag attached to one of the bolts that has "WHO4" on it. can anyone tell me what that means. the last question is all the manuals i look at say to use dextron II but the dip stick says type f. i know on past topics you guys have been ablwe to help me out alot i hope you can shed some light on this for me

Look on the side of the case where the shift linkage is there are 2 disc looking bits cast in ,one has the month and the other has the year.The tags on the V.B ,good question but i'm curious too ..

ok its a 1980. now has anybody herd of the red tag on the valve body that says "WH04"?
