Ford Mustang Bullit Wheels/tires

Hello, I am a new 1972 Torino owner and I was wodering if anyone has pictures of a 72+ Torino with the Mustang original 17in Bullit rims/tires?

Or does anyone know if they'll fit without rubbing?

I spent a couple hours going through all the old forum questions before posting and I couldn't find any info.

Any help would be appreciated.

i tried them on my 73, the offset was all wrong and they looked bad. the front rubbed . if you bought 2-3 hub extenders they might work.

I'm pretty sure the rims you are after are not a 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern. You may want to research that.

BTW. Welcome to the site. Show us some pics when you can!

Edit... OK I guess they will fit.

Re: Ford Mustang Bullit Wheels/tires

I've always wanted a set of Bullitt wheels for my Torino. I think they would look sick! I'm saving up so I can afford a set of Bullitts or FR500s later this year.

Re: Ford Mustang Bullit Wheels/tires

Hello, And thanks for the info. Especially Ramair351. I thought the offest looked wrong for a Torino in the pics I saw of the Bullit Mustangs. I'll go with Torq Thrust eventually.

Mikelonis, My car is a retirment project(Next Oct USAF 23 yrs) so it isn't much to look at yet. But it is an original 49K 72 Gran Torino. It needs some interior and engine work but it is a very straight, no rust car. I am thinking the Bullit Mustang Highland Green with Torq thrust wheels. The again the way original car prices are I might keep it stock.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Re: Ford Mustang Bullit Wheels/tires

There is a guy on ebay selling Bullitt type wheels with the correct offset for our older cars. Not sure of the quality but he has 100% feedback. I was going to look at them when I'm ready for new tires on my wagon.

Re: Ford Mustang Bullit Wheels/tires

Actually, they are still a 5x4.5" pattern, but as noted, the offest is way off. These I want to say have a 6" offset?

You can use billet hub adapters/spacers, but from my past experience, it's not saving you much, better off to go and find a rim with the correct fitment and back spacing.

Also, side not, offset is too much, it will cause issues with wheel bearing failure.

That was my '76 Ford elite, with a high offset 17" wheel and low pro tire.

Hello, Thanks again for the info and pics.

64squire, I checked out the wheels on Ebay and they look like exactly what I want so I called the shop and purchased a set. My project Torino Bullet begins Oh well, you only go around once in life so it might as well be fun.

That's great. Let us know how they look when you get them. Maybe some pictures. Did you order the wheel and tire package?

I'm really looking forward to seeing the pics. What are the specs on the rims and wheels?

Re: Ford Mustang Bullit Wheels/tires

Sorry, No pics yet. I am currently stationed in Guam and I won't see my new to me Torino or the rims until I return back to the mainland on leave in May. My buddy said the wheels/tires look great but the he hasn'ty put them on the Torino yet due to the cold weather.
