1970 Mercury Montego-no fire to motor

Replaced points, plugs, condenser and coil..not getting fire to motor.. any suggestions?

Open your points to .020, if they're not opened already when on top of a lobe.

Then make double sure that the wire coming off the NEG side of the coil is NOT grounding in the dist cap to anything but the metal of the points and the condenser wire.

Also make sure you have power coming to the + side of the coil...

If no voltage, check out ballast wire (pink) or ignition switch....

you could hot wire from battery to + side of the coild temporarily...

Come on now, all he did was change the points... No reason to think the coil + is bad now...

Was the engine running before you did this? I guess we gotta have a starting point...

Engine (429) was running 4 months ago when parked..fired once yesterday, then no fire.. thanks for your quick reply!!

Follow those steps. Make sure the points are opening....

No one said the coil was bad?...Just trying to cover all of the bases for no fire...We have no idea what may have happened when he changed the points and did a tuneup..Just like we have no idea why it is running now..
