Question Duraspark module question

Hi all,
I just picked up a 74 F-250 with a 460. This question has probably been asked before, but I'll ask again. On the Duraspark module, you have the two plugs..one with 4 terminals and the other with 2 terminals. On the truck side of the harness however, the plug that goes into the 2 terminal module plug has 3 terminals. Where does the 3 wires become 2? Or do I have the wrong module? I called NAPA and the guy called their tech and was told that the 3rd wire can be by-passed as it was a ground or something. Anyone run into this before?

Re: Duraspark module question

On the early years (74-75, I think) Ford had a 12V wire going to the modules in addition to the hot in START and hot in RUN wires. In later years Ford changed the point where they picked up the hot in RUN wire in order to use it to provide the 12V. Early years picked up the current after it went through the ignition resistor. Later years pick it up before the resistor. This saved Ford one wire on every car/truck sold. I'm thinking the additional voltage drop when using a late module with an early harness must not be too critical. I did it for about 10 years with no problems.
