429/460 intake manifold question

I bought a '66 f100 cab that sits on a '79 f250 camper special chassis.

The motor is a '69 429 Thunder Jet
.030 over forged flat-tops
D3TE-A2A heads with screw-in studs

The intake is stock Ford with a 4300 carb.

I'm going to use a 750 Holley vac. sec.

It will never see 5000rpm so my question is:

Get a Edelbrock Performer??

C-6 w/3.07 rear gear

Thanks

Re: 429/460 intake manifold question

What cam are you gonna use?
With a small cam, the stock Ford intakes are better up to 4000 or so, than most aftermarket intakes. So it depends on where, in the rpm range, ya need the power to be.

Re: 429/460 intake manifold question

The motor is built and installed, I just up grading here and there.

The cam is a motorsport A460

288*/292* or 216*/220* @.050

.493/.502 lift

109* intake/ 115* exhaust

I don't like 4300 carbs.(never can get the idle to stay steady from
day to day) plus I have a crap pot full of Holleys..

I just plan on pulling the Merc. to N.C. and Mississippi and cruising with old friends.

Just looking for the correct intake from 1500-5000..

I know it's alot of cam, but it's what's in there..

Thanks

Re: 429/460 intake manifold question

Small cam for a 429-460.
Yeah never messed with the 4300s much cause I have a bunch of Holleys too.
Depends on where ya want the power to be. I would use the stock intake if I wanted more from idle to 4500 or so. The Performer for 2500 to 5000. That cam will make peak power about 4900.
Heavy truck, auto w/307 gears, probably tall tires, I would use a Ford factory intake and an adapter for the carb cause of the bore pattern, unless you have an early intake..
