Question 1997 f150 oil cooler

I'm working on a 1997 f150 with a 5.4. It has the oil cooler with the factory oil filter relocation kit. This has been a headache with leaky lines etc. What I would like to know is has anybody gotten rid of this set up with some after market parts ? If so what did you use ? I've done some research on my own but haven't really any firm answers.
