4R70W problem in a 1999 F150 4.2
I posted this in the F150 forum 2 days ago. I have had 168 views and no responses, so I try here too.
My son has a 1999 F150 4.2 RWD with 4R70W. It has 210K miles. It takes 5-10 seconds to go into drive. It goes into reverse immediately. It shifts good 1-2, 2-3, 3-OD. Downshifting is good between all gears.
If you give it some RPM's, it slams into gear, like my dumb friend in high school shifted his 70 Nova 307 to make it chirp a tire in 1988.
Doesn't slip at stoplights, or on highway.
Trans filter and fluid changed twice in last 2 years with new Merc V or VI, I don't remember, last time was 8 months before symptom started.
Torque converter failing?
