I am a bit confused. When I removeded all of the side glass on my Galaxie I noticed something strange. The vent and door window have Carlite markings and the quarter window has FoMoCo markings. Both on driver side and passenger side. Does anyone know if this was common? On the passenger side the markings look right. But on the driver side it looks like a mirror image. Seems I have passenger side glass on both sides of the car. Anyone knows if this was normal procedure?

You know, I've never looked at all the windows on my '64 to see this. Now I'm going to have to look too. I suppose it could be possible they use all the same glass and put the framing on them before installation. Or they run out of one side so just put what they had in the frames to keep things moving on the assembly line. Anything is possible with these old cars. Now going to look at mine! I can only roll up 3 but should be enough. 🙂

I looked at mine and passenger side the door window is correct from outside and the wing window is correct from inside. Driver's side is the opposite of the passenger. Saw enough to not even bother with rear quarter window. But all are CarLite. So they get a stack of glass and assemble the frames and don't pay any attention to the labeling that must be on them prior to being framed. Or that's my deduction at least.

Carlite is (was) the glass marketing division of FOMOCO so both markings are correct in this time period instance.

It is named Carlex now.

The actual wing glass itself (not glass and frame) are the same L or R.
