This will draw people to the site, and Google will pick up on key words.

I was only kidding.

The reason that I wrote what I did is that if you do a Google search for "1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Four-Door, Hard-Top, Fast-Back, Police Interceptor", my Ms. American 3.14159 is the only one you will find.

So far, I've had a number of very knowledgeable people (Greg Donahue, John Rotella, and some of the guys over at the FE Forum) tell me that there are others out there and that Ms. American is NOT all that unique, but I have yet to see or even hear about another like her.

I even had one guy at FE Forum tell me that she may be rare, but that she didn't have any value, which he later modified to "not worthless"! BUT he added that if he had her, he'd cut her up for scrap just like he'd do to ANY four-door car.

He is one of those who owns one of those "ordinary" and "plentiful" REALLY VALUABLE R-Codes !

Can't you just see it? A registry with only ONE car on the list!

2000 Aussies die from normal flu here every year, and they are worried about this where there has been no deaths, just runny noses!

 

Thank you, Danv for putting us back on topic. To your point of creating a sort of clearinghouse of information for 427 Galaxies, I would be happy to help (though I am no expert and was not alive to drive these things in 196x). I have a number of documents and articles on hand, and I'm good with a scanner. I would encourage Mr. Walters to include some information and history about the whole lineage of Ford HiPo motors and the cars they powered, beginning with the 352 and including the 390 and 406 solid-lifter racers and, of course the overhead cam motor. Personally I find the context from which the 427 emerged to be highly interesting. But I realize that's all a lot of work, so thanks for doing step one, the registry. I will add our car and its history in due course, but my hard drive is packed full and so I can't do much on the computer thingy here.

Just one other quick suggestion.
I'd change the badge on the home page from the 7 Litre badge to a 427 eagle fender badge.

 

There were a few 7 litres that had the 427 engine installed in the in 1966 so that's why I put up the picture. Thanks for all the feedback guys!

 

Dave, you are quite right on the 427s in the 7 litre model--which would have made for one stylish 427! However, there is elsewhere a 7 Litre organization, which by now most of us have seen. Switching out the picture would differentiate your site from the 7 Litre folks. Better yet, create a slide show of 427 logos and images from all the different models.

 

That's a great idea, a slide show would be different and show the dif logos/badges that they have.

Registries are most often for particular years or features such as the 7 litre etc. There is a '66 galaxie registry also for all '66 galaxies and at one time a '64 registry was started and then a computer crash I guess lost all the info and many others are there I'm sure. I bet there's also a Pantera registry also.

It's kinda cool to check out a registry just to see how many other cars out there are like your own. As in '64 Ford didn't keep track of so many things like the 66 or other years. Such as how many had white interior or auto on the floor and that kind of thing. So a person can browse a registry and see how many there have the same traits as your own car. That's probably just one thing that makes a registry interesting.

Yes that is a very rare car. I only know of one other still in existance and reportly there were two other 427 wagons that were stripped and junked in the 70's.

That's a keen eye you have, I missed it. I've heard of a number of very humble 427 Galaxies over the years in which the great V8 was optioned as a tow vehicle for boats, etc. Yep, 480 foot-pounds will take good care of your Airstream camper.

A suggestion would be to have a reasonable size Links Page, because from what I'm led to believe, Google picks up on this, and if you have a lot, your own site will be listed higher in Google.

 

Just one more suggestion.

What is the point of having a registry when only one person can access it?

Why not list the VIN or tag numbers on the website, but delete the vital informating such as the last few digits, and owners names and addresses?
That way, we can all see where these cars might have been built, and maybe what options they had.

 

You should look again its all there. Vin's with the last three dropped off and all the data plate information. Thanks Dave

It's far from complete, and not posted onto the web as yet (anyone who has a registry understands the work entailed in maintaining). Happy to share stats or info with anyone! Very happy to receive vehicle data!! Mindful of privacy though.

Very impressive Darren. I have my own registry for the 1965-66 Full Size R-codes like my own. It does require a great deal of dilligence to keep the information current and privacy is always a concern. Different owners have different views on that and it is best to respect them.

My apologies, you are right!

I have been looking at several registries over the last week, incl the 7 litre registry, and I saw that one of the websites listed them. When I made my comment yesterday, I couldn't figure out which one had the listings I saw, and couldn't find them.

So yes, this was in fact the registry I saw them on!
