Put one in my '64 6 months ago. Used the stock column, cut down, per their instructions. My car is a manual transmission. Good thing you have an XL because, I think, a column mounted automatic transmission would be a PIA to do - but, I'm not sure.
You'll need: the FE Borgeson power steering pump, PN 800336 and you'll also need to adjust the pressure to get a good road feel; PN 8990010. I recommend finding manual steering pitman and idler arms as well (a pain in the arss to find). Cleared my FPA headers with no issues. Plus, you'll need various universal joints - I also added a vibration a reducing universal joint instead of the ugly rag joint. It will take an effort to get it done, but, the end results are worth the effort. View attachment 169762 View attachment 169763 View attachment 169764
