it’s not the look I wanted but let’s face it. Torque thrusts look good on anything.
the craptastic Chinese US wheels I had which looked great in steel but were far from true. So it had nasty vibrations at 70mph and up.
I had a set of Ds sitting around so I pulled the trigger on some copper cobras.
15x8” wheels. Zero offset.

I will always approve of these wheels. Like the stance a lot.

The other ones were really different but what good is a wheel you can't true up?

I love the torq thrust Ds. Your car looks great with them. I have Cragars on my ‘65. Another classic look and one that I always wanted. But they’ve been on there for a while and I’m thinking of changing up the look. If I find a set of TT Ds for a good price I’ll switch.

I’ve got a set of American Racing 200s wheels. This is a picture from Jegs of what they look like. Also a picture of the wheels up in the tire rack in the garage. They need refinishing and fresh rubber before they can go on.

I love those wheels, thats why I have them on my 63. In my book, using period wheels is always the best choice. So glad you stayed with smaller wheels that allow for normal period side walls.

Thanks. I do like a good sidewall.
the 18s looked good. But we’re junk. They served a purpose beyond looks as they were functional for competitive autocross events. Now they will be used solely for that.
15s with big fat sidewalls will be for the street.

I did notice over the weekend the tires were at 33 psi. Put them up to 44 and now it handles respectably well despite the giant sidewalls. Ride is still way better than the 18s though I have to admit they were at 50psi.

hey when your trying to turn 4200 lbs you need all the pressure you can get to keep any sidewall off the pavement.

50 psi on the 18s!!! I'm sure that was a bit "rough" in this chassis, to say the least.

I like the look of bigger sidewalls on these classics, yet feel 16s may be the sweet spot in performance vs appearance. I have 17" American Racing wheels on mine, but they aren't too low profile where they make the ride rough. But it isn't exactly pleasant over rough roads. I had the original 15" with whitewalls on there when I first did the Hotchkis kit and it definitely felt more comfortable, but I do want it to handle better (hence the suspension mods and 17s wheels).

Still, the classic wheel design with raised white letters is such a great look on these old boats.
