Wiring schematic needed for radio

I am looking for a wiring schematic for the factory radio in my 62. I am sure the 61 is the same and possibly the 60. I know the factory radio supplement has this, but I am unable to find one. I need to work on mine and this would really help.

Are you looking for an internal wiring diagram as how the AM radio works (or does not)?

A few long years ago, I went to a local electronics swap-meet, and found a vendor there selling off his collection of diagrams and trouble shooting guides for the big five (yes, there used to be five) auto maker radio versions. I got them for $5 and promptly gave them to my friend who went and equally promptly lost them all. "You gave em to me?" Out there in the garage someplace I think.

These items are pretty cheap, as no one likes to work on the radios anymore. Zero challange. Your AM still may not work, but it has to be a challange to them. If you take the unit to some Radio/TV shop, be prepared for Just the bill and little on the explaination into the process. My friend used to insult the connection wires and replace them with or w/o a connector. But he was cheap.

I have the manual for 61(it was free)and the only radio reference is an exploded view where it goes in the dash and some part numbers. There is an asterisk in the corner of the page that says "see radio supplement". I need the diagram for inside, specifically the on/off switch.

Funny you should bring up transistorized radio. When I first put power to my 61 and started checking out everything electrical when I got to the radio I turned it on, spun the tuning dial and nothing so I turned it off. every once in a while I would turn it off and on with same results till one time I left it on for a minute and I hear noise..... then it dawned on me, Tube radio, has to warm up. It works fine through the 49 year old speaker, though nothing to listen to except yap radio or spanish stations.

Thank you for that. The difference in the radios is with and without pushbuttons. I have a dead radio that I want to use to trigger an amp to run an MP3 player. I need to know the wiring for the on/off/volume side so it will still work that way. The face is busted and none of the push buttons work, so it might as well serve some purpose. I am going to replace the plastic piece over the stations with plexi and put an 1/8" port for an MP3 player. I would love to find a tiny amp to put inside the radio to run to some speakers.

You can also find at a used book/ magazine store or at a swap meet, ebay. Sams Photofact Auto Radio Series. They go by the radio model number. It's what radio repair shops use. I might have it, I just have to find it in all my junk!

I am going to pull the busted radio out of my parts car tomorrow. The plan is to use the original volume control to control the volume input for a small 2 channel amp. That will run to an 1/8" connector that will accept MP3 players. I don't know what I will do with the tuning knob and the pushbuttons. All of the AM internals will be pulled and put up as spare parts for my original radio from my car. Another option is something like this if can figure out which wire do what I need. http://autoxer.skiblack.com/nallm/mp3jackinamfm.htm
