Hey all,

I rebuilt my front end suspension on my 66 convertible and it's all back together and in need of an alignment. I was going to take it in to have it done
but in my research have discovered I can do it at home. Maybe. The shop manual says you need Tool T65P-3000-D.

No luck with that one on the interwebs, but in my reading online everyone says you need this tool

So if I get that tool, does the pointy end go into the hole just above the spring perch (circled in the pic) and it grabs the inner shaft to wrestle it into place and hold it?

Thanks!

That OEM Ford tool will hold the upper arm for adjustments.

The Snap-On won't "hold" the arm, it just makes moving it easier.
Yes, the pointy end goes in the hole you indicated.

I actually have a pair of the OEM Ford tool....

No, you can't have it... not for sale... :wink2:

Couple of years ago I brought the Gal in for an alignment. When I went to pick it up I was told come back tomorrow because Max, the only guy in the shop with the tool, was out for the day..

Sorry for the delay posting this.

Here's some pics of the tool I have.

This may not be a Genuine OEM Ford Tool.
I plead old guy memory...

There are no part numbers or brand name on these.

Edit;
The way to use this is to install the tools *before* loosening the control arm cross shaft bolts.
Cinch the nuts on the tool up snug so the tool is "pulling" the cross shaft towards the wheel side.
*Then* loosen (Do NOT remove) the cross shaft bolts.
The springs and the weight of the car try to push the control arm towards the engine side.
You then use the nuts on the tool to draw the arm either direction to set alignment.

Thanks for doing that, Galaxiex! That worked out well. There can always be some worry when suggesting someone post a picture of their tool on the internet!:surprise::laugh::tup:

can this possibly be done without using these tools?we put a bigblock and new springs in my 67 and the tires are leaning in at the top and wearing heavy on the inside.i can see they are tilted.the balljoints seem tight .ill get it aligned but right now we have other issues to take care of first.i just want to get them closer to vertical.thanks

I can't think of a DIY tool but if you got the wheels off the deck you will be able to lever the shaft easier. Then set the car down and see if you like the look.

If you don't like the trial and error approach just use some simple math and calculate how far you need to move it....
