Hello every one "I just purchased a1968 "S" code coupe the original engine had been pulled is in my posesion ,the car came with a 1964 427cid with ElderBrock RPM heads 850 SpeedDemon it rocks because of the fireing order ,15426378 if you did not notice the drivers side of the engine has all four cylinders lit while only 2 cylnders are lit on the passengers side with this fireing order, example DR side 1423 Pass side are fired then 5 and 6 then cylinder number 7 and 8 hit right behind each other'this give the 427 a nice cackle and thump while raising RPMs,
My Question is do they make a FE camshaft with a more even fireing order like a 351?? don't get me twisted this mill will rev 6800 thru the gears so it all sounds good but a 351 fireing order would smooth everything out"

Whadddya mean dude? The drivers side of the engine is 5-6-7-8...

1-Pass 5-Driv 4-Pass 2-Pass 6-Driv 3-Pass 7-Driv 8-Driv

That's the way they hit, and I'm confused by your pose a little.. :)

By the way, it sounds so good because it's an FE! :) :) :)

Put up some pics of this S code, they're nice to look at!

My speed shop owner has run a 427 all his life and doing right well in nhra . He has the ford factory light weight Jim Van Cleves had that made history in drag racing . Not much with a 427 he has not done and learned .

This tip most will not beleive . A 428 cj mostly and some 427s , the skirts would break off number 7 and 8 piston . The simple reason is cause most people put the 7 and 8 wire side by side from dist all way to spark plug . The wires cross fire being side by side . This will cause an ark firing through the wires that cause this . Run the no 7 wire in front of the no 5 and around to spark plug . Run no 8 wire other way to no 8 spark plug . That will stop the skirts from breaking turnning high rpms .

I turn my 427 9300 out the gate and 10,000 changing gears . Turnning a 427 that much you HAVE to close up all ford factory oil system and redrill a new route maintaining 10 pounds of oil preasure per 1000 rpms turnned . We hold 100 pounds of pressure at 10,000 .....Ok FE now let me hear it lol
