Just curious to hear what headers you guys are running? Looking for 1 3/4 full length 3 in collector size. Thinking about Hooker Super Comps...seem to be good quality without breaking the bank. I have 85 mustang 331 factory block 5 speed stock k frame.

super comps are OK but they better be coated. Tubing is usually slightly thinner on the super comps for less weight. When rust starts, they rust through pretty fast. They also crack so if you go that route, keep the exhaust system properly secured & supported.

Follow those guidelines and you're fine. They'll last a good while. Have a set on dad's fairmont. They fit well. Tubes are split for easy installation.

What about Accu-Fabs??? I read they were pretty good and have the header tubes coming into the collector in the right order which helps the tune.

Header tubes are not firing order specific for all cars. Maybe that only occurs with Fox body cars or you have to specifically request it (doubtful.)

Here are full on pics of my Accufab swap headers an here are SBF firing orders:

A couple of points...
The AFR205 head comes in several exhaust port configurations. I have the 85cc port and it's opened beyond the standard 2" Ford spacing. Felpro makes a gasket similar to this but it does not match 1:1. The super comp header chops off about 15% of this port. Flow bench showed a miserable match.

The AFR 205 head comes with a 3" optional bolt pattern which is what I used with my FPA headers. Stan matched the template I sent him and the headers actually outperformed several "race" brand headers on the dyno. His are not equal length but I don't care. :) That's another thread.

Last comment is that you might consider plugging the 2" port with aluminum studs and milling them flush and just using the 3" port. You can do some amazing work once that restriction is gone.

I have never seen the Accufab or Kooks headers for this head but several racers have been happy with them for your year car based on their comments on other boards.

Allenman,
85cc...You have some huge exhaust ports? AFR 205 port size is 70cc, their nitrous port is 73cc. I had Trick Flow High port heads with 87cc & the port was nowhere near as big as the hooker super comps opening I had....Are you sure your not mistaken with the smaller Hooker competitions?

I double-checked once I saw your question and I did mis-state. At the time (2003), AFR offered 75cc and 80cc ports on the 205. Mine are 80cc.
I did see that that port is no longer available! :( Looks like they moved that port over to the 225 only.
