i just completed a rebuild of 1970 302 and have replaced the stock carb with the edelbrock 1406. and have been having issues with throttle cable linkage and kickdown rod linkage. i seem to have the throttle cable figure out, but now the stock kickdown rod seems to come up short at the transmission end when attached to the throttle. i also had c4 rebuilt and not sure the rebuilder put kickdown lever in original position. i've removed the lever and tried to relocate and can't get it to connect to the rod. not sure if i need to replace the stock rod or not. has anyone else had this issue, or seen it, and if so, do you know the fix? thank you in advance for your help.

I think the Kick down linkage is supposed to go DOWNWARD, not go forward...

You need to make it so the blue bar is being pushed down I believe and is at bottom of it's travel when the throttle is at full.

There's gotta be a linkage kit to get it right.

I'll check my box of carbs when I get a chance if nobody replies, maybe I've got one setup already.

I think you need the kick down rod extension. Edelbrock has the piece in the carb accessories section, the link has been posted in a couple of previous threads on this subject. The extension goes on the carb end. I used the Holley extension on my car when going to a four barrel carb from the original 2V.
